Capuchin Soup Kitchen

Looking to do something good this Thanksgiving? The Capuchin Soup Kitchen is always looking for volunteers and donations.

A full belly, a nap and remorse over eating too much are about the only givens most people will experience on Thanksgiving. But what else is there to do on Turkey Day? In the D, the answer is: PLENTY!

If you want to do something you can really be thankful for, why not donate some of your time at a soup kitchen or other charities? The Capuchin Soup Kitchen is always in need of volunteers. Check out cskdetroit.org for info. on volunteer opportunities and other ways you can help.

Detroit Thanksgiving Parade

The 86th America’s Thanksgiving Parade will roll down Woodward Ave. on Thursday morning.

I love a parade!

America’s Thanksgiving Parade will once again bring smiles to the faces of people young and old. Marching bands, floats, clowns and festive inflatables will make their way along Woodward Ave. The parade gets underway at 9:05 a.m. at Woodward and Mack, and it ends at Congress in downtown Detroit. For everything you need to know about the parade, including parking and other transportation info., click here.

If you’d rather watch the parade from the comfort of your couch, it will be broadcast live on Channel 4 in Detroit.

Go Lions!

Detroit LionsTo a lot of Detroiters, the Lions are as much a part of Thanksgiving as turkey and stuffing. This year, the Lions play host to the Houston Texans for their traditional Thanksgiving Day game, which kicks off at 12:30 p.m. at Ford Field. If you don’t have tickets, you can watch it from the comfort of your couch (do you sense a theme here?) on Channel 62 (CBS).

What are your plans for this Thanksgiving? What are you thankful for? Let us know in the comments section below.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

-Scott
